TITLE: On-Call Policy
REVISED: November 21, 2022

Evergreen doesn’t have restrictions on employees who are on-call. This means Evergreen doesn’t require an employee to remain close to the facility and we do not restrict their ability to use their personal time effectively for their own purposes.

On-call personnel should avoid the use of alcohol in case they are needed to assist staff and/or need to fill in if an employee calls in sick. Alcohol or drug use has been determined to affect the decision making of an individual and causes undo safety concerns for all concerned.

It is encouraged for supervisors to have written procedures in place for their staff to follow concerning common arising issues that will help them determine the appropriate course of actions to be followed. This may reduce the amount of calls the on-call person receives.

On-call employees are required to provide a contact phone number to their staff to assist in resolving concerns, emergencies and staffing issues. On-call employees need to evaluate how they want staff to contact them.

On-call employees must respond to phone calls or texts within 30-minutes. If an on-call employee is doing an activity that may require them to place their phone on silent or off (movies, weddings, funerals, etc.) they need to inform the staff of this issue ahead of time; however, they must still respond in a reasonable amount of time.

If an on-call employee is traveling to an area that doesn’t have cell service it is advised the employee inform their staff of the issue ahead of time or find other arrangements for on-call services among those that accomplish on-call duties.

Having a lack of cell service continually must be resolved by the on-call employee.

Employees are not expected to resolve call-ins and/or find their own replacements, this is the duties of the on-call supervisor. However, employees may assist the on-call supervisor with contacting other employees.

Salary employees are not reimbursed for coming into the facility; however, they must inform their supervisor so that any needed adjustments can be made to their actual time worked within the same pay period. Supervisors may require the employee to show proof of being in the facility.

Hourly employees are required to use the time clock when coming into the facility

Evergreen doesn’t reimburse employees for the use of their own cell phones.
